To explain it quickly, a men show to a pianist an arrangement of the song from the meme Nyan cat. without waiting, he read and attempt to play it, and boom! A Nyan Cat Ragtime!
The video in question was posted in 2012, the quality is a bit low, but the performance is really interesting. we definitively see the pianist learn the notes on the spot, making few mistake at the beginning and quickly master it. that's fascinating.

This song remembered me few other modern songs played in Ragtime that I heard in the past. Few years ago, I was a big fan of Post Modern Jukebox (PMJ for Short) and one of the guest signer was Robyn Adele Anderson. She also have a personal Channel on YouTube where she post songs and one of them, is a revamped version of YMCA into a Ragtime. I really love the aesthetic of the costumes, the tap dancer, and obviously the music in this video.

For those who don't know Post Modern Jukebox, they are a collectif, create by a men named Scott Bradlee and their goal is to make modern music into vintage style. Scott Bradlee in itself is obviously a musician and, like mostly all the PMJ's members, he have is own channel where we can see him telling stories, making few Updates and play piano. One of this song is a Medley of Super Mario Bross in Ragtime. It's truly well interpreted, with a part a bit more jazzy when he hit the underground par of the medley.
Who would I be, Speaking about Ragtime, without speaking about the legend of this style in itself. And by this, I present you Scott Joplin. The man behind some well know songs like The Entertainer, or Maple Leaf Rag. I pretty sure those titles doesn't ring a bell for most of you right now so, I gonna post both songs in the following. Mr. Joplin was a talented compositor who made music in a lots of style of this time, like classical and opera, but his true talent was in Ragtime. He had a somewhat great career from 1895 to 1917. Born from slave, his whole life was dictated by his color, even if his name was synonyme of Ragtime. Society of this time was hard on his kind.
