Bonne St-Jean!

The 24 of June is a special day for my nation, not only it's the Saint John the Baptist day, but also the day of creation of our nation. Every year, we commemorate this day with a bonfire, fireworks, music and a lots of alcool. So, today, I will share with you 3 song that represent well this day... ...well, at least for me.

Little disclosure here, we are a francophone nation, so all the song are in french...

Y'a pas grand chose dans l'ciel a soir, by Kermess. 1999
This song have define The St.-Jean party of my teenager years and young adulthood. Most of my friends of this time, if not all only listen to metal and punk music, and this was one of the song they played the most in every of those party.

J'entends Frapper, by Michek Pagliaro. 1972
For some reason, every-time I herd this sont on a St.-Jean party, It was around a giant bonfire while I was drunk as hell... This song always hit me in the core, and because of the chorus, I've made some of my worst mistake in those party. Roughly translated, the lyrics say:
''I herd knocking! Finally my chance have come, I'm happy to hear that nothing is hover''

My dead drunk self got slap a couple of time because I was trying to flirt with some girls who was not into it.

Gens du pays, by Gilles Vigneault. 1975
This song could have been our National Anthem, IF the Referendum about the independence of our nation was victorious. I will not expand further in this drama tho...

Long story short, it's a birthday song for the nation and if you came celebrate your birthday in our province we will probably sing you the chorus of this song, if not the traditional happy birthday song. It's a song full of passion and love dub with a beautiful poetry.

Alright! Hope you liked it and wish you ''Bonne St-Jean Baptiste'' like we say in french.

Just to let you know, I will not post anything tomorrow. not that i party hard, but because I think I will take the journey off for myself.

On that, See Ya!
