heatwave inspiration Reggae

Day 2 of the heatwave and I really feel like I loosing my head. Hopefully I can count on the music to keep awake and my head cool... ...morally. And what better music than reggae to go with hot sunny day.
It's a rhetorical question, no need to tell me there is more than reggae that fit.

So, in this post, I will show you few artist that I've been listen today to cope withe the day.

YellowMan
I discover this man while strolling in some back alleys of Trois-Rivières and rediscover it in the record store near by last day. I bough the Album Murderah Style out in 2002. I didn't know this artist really since yesterday, but, searching for what he doing, I realize that he is a really prolific artist. Working since 1974 he have around 50 albums including 9 only in 1982. Overall, I think it's sound pretty good and I will probably look for more in the futur.

Sugar Minott
This one was a recommendation by the shopkeeper of the the same record store, I didn't know this artist before and i must say that I quite enjoyed exploring his discography available on YouTube. The album he sold me was Ghetto Pickney Style, it's a compilation released in 2002.

Personally, it's the best compilation, few songs have some issue with the recording of the voice, getting lost in the bass or wobbling with the song of the guitare, they certainly could have do a better job at remastering those songs. My last complaint will be that on 2 or 3 songs they used a keyboard synthesizer to play with and it's sound like a cliche of the 80's/90's pop music (Especially the song Power Of Love) Overall, the Album is good, but could have been way better. This album not represent well what the artist can do and have done the best.

The compilation is not available on YouTube, so I chose a song from another album to represent Sugar Minott.

Tryo
This is a long time favorite for me, I own few album of this band since 2000 I think. Tryo is a French Band who play mostly acoustic instrument. they have been really popular in my city the summer before the album ''sous les étoiles '' was about to came out. I want to precise that was never a radio success but more a local craze.

The band has always been close to social and environmental activism, especially for the words they have in their music. I really appreciated it,

Bob Marley
I couldn't speak about Reggae without speaking about the icone of it. At this point, I'm pretty sure that everyone who heard this kind of music have heard of him. This guy propelled the genre overseas. what can i say, it's simply the most known, the most prolific, the most loved one. He also have a rich history that if you're into stories make it simply fascinating.

I chose Bufflo Soldier to represent him because, to my opinion, this song is simply great and stay in mind.
