I raise my glass for Dédé Fortin

Today is sadly the  20th anniversary of the death of Dédé Fortin. For those who are outside of the Quebec's musical sphere, André, aka Dédé Fortin is an icone of our music. He was one of the most prolific signer and his band was and still a favorite. he was our star, he was like the neighborhood musician that everyone liked, even the grumpiest of us.

Him and his band, Les Colocs, defined the identity of our music with their unique way to research and play with the language, style and sonority of every music he touched. One of the best example i can give you is the song ''Tassez-vous de d'là'' A french Reggae with a Wolof Chorus. As weird as it sound, really few peoples committed to reinterpreted his songs, not because that's hard, but mostly because there is an energy in him who's really hard to canalise. Most of his songs are rooted on his personal life, as if he were signing his emotions and wishes to the people around him. His life choices may have been criticized, but we're all subject to make bad decisions, no mater who we are.
